Our INSTRUCTORS
-
Stephanie B. Kurimski is a multi-media artist based in Carlsbad,
specializing in digital media. With formal drawing, painting, and
design training, she has expanded her artistic expertise through
self-directed study in digital art, leatherwork, and Native
beading. Her work integrates traditional techniques with
contemporary approaches, creating a distinctive blend of
craftsmanship and innovation. As a dedicated member of the
Carlsbad community, she is committed to enriching local
culture by promoting art and creativity. Stephanie believes in
the transformative power of art to inspire, engage, and elevate
the community. -
Mike Campos is a local artist with many years of
formal training. His primary focus is teaching
drawing and painting at all levels. -
As a self-taught artist, Elizabeth Duffy is most inspired by manga and
anime. She is dedicated to helping others realize and gain confidence
in their artistic abilities. -
Haley Jones has loved all things fiber arts since learning to crochet from her great-
grandmother at eight years old. She’s been crocheting ever since and has recently
begun branching into other art mediums beyond fiber. She enjoys teaching others to
crochet and helping them discover the joys of fiber arts. As a recovering perfectionist,
she tries to help her students focus on enjoying the process over the final product. She
also strives to create a relaxed, encouraging learning environment–art should be fun!
When not doing something crochet-related, she can be found reading, watching
British TV shows, pet sitting, or learning another fiber art. -
I am a sixth generation native of Southeastern New Mexico. I started Theoma Studio in 2018 to create brand identity, logos, and websites for food trucks, authors, medical providers, musicians, podcasts, breweries, museums, nonprofits and more! In 2021, my passion for history and art brought me to Carlsbad Museum, where I serve as the graphic designer and city historian.
Part of my studio work focuses on Custom Built Typefaces. Join me in my 2025 Art Academy classes as I teach my technique to hand-draw and digitize a font with “Creating Fonts: From Pencil To Pixels”!
-
I am a mixed artist with a passion for watercolor, collage, and embroidery. With experience teaching art and theatre, I have a Bachelor in Fine Art in theatre with a focus on design and technical aspects with a minor in art and am currently working towards a Masters of Art Education. I believe everyone is an artist and a maker. It is good for you, good for your brain, and regulating emotions. Whether shared or not, art is a way to express our thoughts, ideas, feelings, things that we otherwise might have an outlet. While our worlds by be different, art has amazing healing power we all can utilize.
