A Life in Layers:
the art of alfred morang
Come and witness the works of “a neglected master.” Alfred Morang was able to take influence from French Impressionism and the colorful views he found in New Mexico’s capitol, using his unique perspective to create something truly special. Our sincere thanks to Dwight and Sabette Pitcaithley, Carlsbad Municipal Schools, and Debbie Russell Ray for their generous artwork contributions, which made this exhibition possible.
After moving to Santa Fe in the late 1930’s, Morang; an already capable artist, found his greatest creative inspiration whilst settling on Canyon Road. He lived, ate and breathed art, through painting, writing, music, and even hosting an art themed radio program, Morang’s affinity for art was defined by passion and sheer dedication, even until a tragic end. His works though not well known at the time, have become his undying posthumous legacy, and we are honored to host just a taste of his many creations.
