SHane Andrews

Shane Andrews was born in Dallas, Texas in 1971, and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1990, going on to be a Major League Baseball player. He was the 11th overall draft pick in 1990, picked by the Montreal Expos. Andrews played for the Montreal Expos for four years, the Chicago Cubs from 1999 - 2000, and ended his career with the Boston Red Sox in 2002. Throughout his seven-year career in the Majors, the third baseman hit 86 home runs and had 263 RBI throughout 569 games played. Andrews will always be a part of history for having hit the first major league homerun of the new millennium in March of 2000. Andrews has remained an active part of Carlsbad's community by assisting with Little League and other endeavors. Andrews plays an important role in Carlsbad's baseball legacy, which has inspired generations of young boys and girls.
